As a fellow minimalist, I definitely understand your desire not to purchase anything non-essential. I will say though that my DSLR is one of my best purchases ever, and I've gotten a lot of use out of it through the years. Your phone photos are really nice though, so I'm certainly not trying to pressure you to get something you don't need!
