Glad you were still able to make the most of your time there despite the rough start. Unfortunately you have to have a healthy amount of skepticism of strangers acting that friendly right away. Most people are genuinely nice, but you never know when you'll run into someone like this instead! I watched a video of all the different tricks pickpockets use recently, and some of them are pretty easy to fall for!
