I think that's a pretty good comeback, actually! Sounds like she just didn't have a sense of humor.

And then there was this really stupid “joke” from an acquaintance.: “Do you actually have blood in your system? If I cut you open, will there be blood?” To which I answered, “No, I’m a vampire.” I recalled her looking at me weirdly when I answered that, as if her questions were completely normal.
