I'm also addicted to sugar. For me, I've found that it's partly a routine that I've gotten into - like you, I sit and watch TV before I go to bed and eat some sort of dessert, ice cream or once in a while cookies. The only thing that works for me (at least so far) is replacing the routine of dessert with something else. A lot of people say chewing gum but that doesn't work for me really. A cup of tea sometimes works, or finding something to do completely non-eating related, like knitting. That way I'm still doing something while I watch TV, but it isn't food related. All that being said, I still find it pretty difficult.
