I'm really sorry to hear about your coworker :( I can't help but wonder how he continued to care about work when he knew he was facing death - I don't think I could have. Though, perhaps he needed the distraction. I'm certainly not criticizing in any way, just wondering, like I said.

To answer your question, yes, I think I'd like to know how many years I do (or don't) have left. Yes, it's a bit macabre, but as you pointed out, it would help me decide which things to prioritize.
