As some of you may remember from my 24 goals for 2024, one of my goals for this year was to read three books per month — two novels and one non-fiction/biography. Well, I’m happy to report that so far I’ve been able to keep up with this. And, I thought now that we’re a quarter of the way through 2024 (how did that happen?!), it might be fun to do a quick rating and review session of them.

Her Royal Spyness — The Proof of the Pudding (Rhys Bowen)

4/5

This novel is part of a series that I’ve been reading for the last few years. They’re set in the 1930s, and the main character, Lady Georgiana (Georgie for short), is always finding herself in the middle of murders and mysteries throughout the UK and Europe.

Overall I’d describe these books as lighter, more frivolous versions of Agatha Christie novels. In addition to the primary mystery plot, there’s often a romantic storyline of some sort as well. All in all, they’re not exactly great literature, but they’re certainly fun.

All About Me: My Remarkable Life in Show Business (Mel Brooks)

4/5
