This is quite possibly my favorite John Irving novel I’ve read so far (The World According to Garp may be more famous, but it’s a little on the violent and bleak side for my taste). There’s no doubt that the characters are eccentric, but I grew to be really fond of them the more I read. I also found it to be a pretty interesting perspective on the Vietnam War; many books and films…
