The Satisfaction of a Digital Spring Clean
We all know about cleaning out our house, but have you cleaned your Google Drive?
Recently I got a message from my Google Account. My storage was almost full, and I had two options: pay for additional storage, or delete files to make more room. Now, most normal people would probably just pay the $1.99 a month and get on with their lives, but I’m a notorious cheapskate about this sort of thing. Instead I decided to go for the second option, and go through my files and delete as many as possible.
My first task was to clean out my email inbox. And let me just say…yikes. I had over 3,000 emails sitting in my inbox, 84 of which were unread. I immediately felt overwhelmed by it, but I made myself slog through, starting with the oldest first and working my way forward. After hours of this (with occasional breaks to curse myself for not dealing with emails when I first received them) I got the number down to 2,153. Not great, but definitely much better than when I had started.
